Where should I start?

How far in advance do we need to plan our wedding?
We recommend to save the date at least one year in advance. The planning time will depend on each wedding but usually takes from three to eight months.
How can I confirm the wedding date?
In order to book a wedding day please contact us, we will send you a wedding information request file and our terms & conditions. Also an initial deposit of US$1,000.00 will be required.
What is the difference between a symbolic, legal or catholic ceremony?
o Symbolic ceremonies are performed by a non-denominated minister, would not be legal here or any other country.
o Legal ceremonies can only be performed by an official mexican government judge. Marriage certificate will be valid only in Mexico, an apostille will be required to valid the marriage in other country.
All paperwork must be completed at least one month before the wedding, in addition the couple must arrive at least three full business days prior the wedding day and a blood test will be performed on property.
o Catholic Ceremonies can only be performed in a catholic chapel by a catholic priest, this ceremony has no legal effects.
At least one member of the couple must be catholic.
The couple must be in direct contact with their parish and with the local priest in order to complete the marriage preparation on time, the certificate (nihil obstat letter) along with their birth, baptism and confirmation certificate must be sent direct to the local parish at least 2 months before the wedding.
How many days in advance I must be in Mexico?
For symbolic and catholic ceremonies we require the wedding couple to be onsite at least two full business days prior to the wedding day.
For legal ceremonies we require the wedding couple to be onsite at least three full business days prior to the wedding day.
Which days are considered as business days?
Monday to Friday however Public Mexican Holidays are not considered as business days.
Saturday & Sunday are not considered as business days.
Is one of my guests allowed to be the officiant for my ceremony?
Yes, symbolic ceremonies can be performed by someone else. However kindly consider if this service is included in your wedding pacakge it would not be refundable.
How many weddings per day can you do?
We do up to 2 wedding ceremonies per day with a wedding coordinator per couple, in order to offer you a personalized service in one of the most important days in their life.
Are children allowed to attend the wedding events?
No, Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is adults only property, our policies establish that minors under 18 years old are not allowed at the property even for private events.
How many guests must stay on property to have my wedding at the hotel?
We require that the 80% of your guests stays at the hotel.
I have some friends none staying at the resort; can they attend to the wedding?
Yes, for all non staying guests at Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya we offer a day pass and/or wedding pass, your wedding coordinator will provide the fees.
What happen if rains?
For all our outdoor events we always have a backup plan in case of rain or bad weather. On the wedding day your wedding coordinator will be monitoring the weather forecast and will let you know if there is any chance of rain in order to move to a backup location.
Are we able to make reservations in one of the restaurants for a wedding?
We have a policy of “First come, first served” in our restaurants therefore reservations are not allowed.
Some wedding packages include a private dinner reception and for different or additional service your wedding coordinator will provide the options.
Why should I pay the reception if I already pay for the all inclusive?
Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is an all Inclusive property. The room rate includes seven unlimited à la carte restaurants with no reservations required, two buffets, and eleven bars with scheduled open hours along with room service 24 hrs; however private functions require a different area with special set up, menu, and staff therefore all these services apply with additional charge.
Can I bring my own decoration for the wedding?
Yes, if you are bringing it with you please verify with your airline what is allowed and what is not; we do not recommend to ship anything because your package could be retained in customs, however if you decide to take this option make sure you consult a custom broker in your country, use only private shipping companies as DHL or Fedex, never use Federal post services and send your packages two to three months prior the wedding in order to avoid any delay. Please keep in mind that sending items to México may apply taxes.
In addition kindly consider bringing your own décor will incur into set up fees depending on what you bring.
Special decorations can be used only in private events.
If I will not use one of the items of my package, can I get a discount?
All the inclusions in the package are non refundable or exchangeable for other services.
Can I bring my own suppliers?
In order to keep the quality of all our events we only work with certain high quality suppliers, however if you prefer to bring your own please consider an external vendor fee will apply also kindly consider we will need their full information in advance in order to authorize the access.
Please bear in mind we will not be responsible for their set up or performance of their services.
The external vendor fee does not include meals or any other service.
